Brammo unveiled its new Empulse electric motorcycle this week.
Brammo Inc. hosted a special event in Los Angeles Tuesday to unveil its newest electric motorcycle models: the Empulse and Empulse R.
The Empulse models both boast a 100-mile range and a 100 miles-per-hour top speed. The motorcycles will cost $16,995 and $18,995 respectively.
Financing will be available through Sheffield Financial. As an example, financing for the Empulse could be 8.9 percent for 72 months resulting in payments of $303 per month, among other options.
The Empulse R will be the first to hit the market with limited availability in June and full volume by the third quarter. The lower priced Empulse will be available in the first quarter of 2013.
Brammo whetted the motorcycle market's appetite for this week's unveiling by releasing the specs of both models and a video conversation with Ashland-based Brammo CEO and President Craig Bramscher (see below) last month.
The motorcycles feature seating for two, a water-cooled AC motor, a six-speed transmission, a braking system that charges the battery, and on-board charging capability. The Empulse body work is all plastic while the Empulse R uses carbon fiber for the front and rear fenders and in a few other spots.
"It was important to Brammo to create a great motorcycle and we paid attention to customer feedback to create just that," Bramsher said in a press release. "From concept to production the Empulse product has evolved quite a bit."
Brammo has received 1,000 pre-orders for the Empulse.
The company is looking at building new headquarters in Ashland and is gearing up for the electric motorcycle-racing season in addition to its core business. Brammo closed on a $28 million investment from Polaris Industries and others last October.
