Swiss automation giant ABB made a $5 million follow-on investment in electric vehicle charging specialist ECOtality and signed a $5 million licensing agreement to use ECOtality's network technology in ABB's EV charging stations.
Under the license agreement San Francisco-based ECOtality, which is installing electric vehicle charging stations across Oregon as part of the federally funded EV Project, will provide its Blink Network operating technology to ABB for use in its systems.
The deal is an important one for ECOtality, which is looking to build a business in electric vehicle charging technology that will continue once the EV Project wraps in 2013.
